Re: DJZ's other other 2 seater 280ZX

Cleaned the manifold at work, came up a bit better. I'm going to remove the fuel rail and a couple of the other rusty looking bits and give them a clean/paint before I put the rest of it together. There were a bunch of ARP bolts at work that were going in the scrap metal bin so I liberated them, tur...

Re: DJZ's other 280ZXs

Here's the box, it's pretty big & heavy. I think I got a pretty good deal, the VQ35 ended up coming with an almost brand new set of ID1000 injectors, a Honeywell oil pressure sensor, Mocal oil filter sandwich plate, plenum spacer, sump spacer, aftermarket knock sensor and an almost new bigger E ...

Re: DJZ's other other 2 seater 280ZX

Got the manifolds off this. I took the inlet manifold to work and gave it a clean in the big dishwasher, it came up a little bit better. Will get it back together this weekend hopefully. https://i.imgur.com/MAJytPg.jpg This was the reason for having to pull them off https://i.imgur.com/KJye6Oz.jpg

Re: DJZ's 280ZX

So the VQ35 that I bought came with a pretty much brand new set of ID1000 injectors in it, which are bigger and newer than the ones I have in this currently. They are 14mm top o ring so don't fit in the existing fuel rail, so I made a new one. Can't put them in until my new plugs show up which is pr...

Re: DJZ's other other 2 seater 280ZX

Good work DJ, I seem to recall Brock having one of those manifolds with a broken stud and it was absolutely diabolical trying to get it out. Going to delete the EGR also? Looks like you're putting some good work in! Yeah I was expecting it to be a lot harder than it turned out to be, I thought abou...

Re: DJZ's other 280ZXs

I've been looking for a gearbox for this for a while and just bought a complete VQ35DE and 6 speed box out of a 350Z, off to Queenstown with James this weekend to collect it. The gearbox has a dicky synchro which is pretty common, parts aren't too expensive for them, but if I can sell the engine the...

Re: DJZ's other other 2 seater 280ZX

I should have looked at the exhaust manifold before I put the engine in, it didn't have down pipe on it when I took it out of the donor car, turns one of the studs was stripped. I bought another L20E for the dizzy and a couple of other bits, I was hoping the exhaust manifold was going to be good but...

Re: DJZ's other other 2 seater 280ZX

Got one of the few parts remaining on this, some genuine Nissan rubber radius rod bushes. The bush kit that I bought came with some but they were basically solid plastic and I didn't want to use them, these should last another 10 or 20 years.

Re: DJZ's 280ZX

Not sure if I mentioned but one of the issues with the clutch was the stopper was gone which I hadn't realised, so I borrowed one from the VK car, but I've bought a bunch of new ones nows. Also got some new wiper nut covers. https://i.imgur.com/nlbjPNh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CDuLUGP.jpg

Re: DJZ's 280ZX

Took this for a test drive a couple of weekends ago, all went well apart from I've done something to the speedo so I need to sort that out. Haven't done too much else, I've been working heaps, we had our car out at Skope doing demo laps with Greg Murphy driving, managed to unofficially break the lap...
